A letter from our Executive Vice President
With the increase of security breaches in today’s marketplace, cyber security has become a top initiative for many organizations worldwide, big and small. With a 62% increase in security breaches in 2013, 1 in 5 organizations have already experienced an advanced persistent threat which equivocally brings the total global impact of cybercrime to roughly $3 Trillion! We are facing a cyber security recruitment crisis today.
Demand for the information security workforce is expected to rise to 6 million open positions across the globe by the year 2019. The crisis that we face in today’s market is the lack of qualified and trained cyber security professionals where studies show that there is a projected shortfall of 1.5 million professionals. Less than 2.4% of graduating students hold a Computer Science degree.
How does this effect your organization? Security managers reported significant barriers in implementing desired security projects due to lack of staff expertise (34.5%) and inadequate staffing (26.4%). Given this challenge, only 24% of enterprises have 24×7 monitoring in place using internal resources.
Organizations now face Supply and Demand issues within the information security industry which is why information security is considered one of the highest sought after careers for the next 7 years. Companies are now faced with having to increase their cyber security budgets to attract cyber security personnel which will increase the competitiveness in the market.
Which brings me to my next point: it is crucial to form strong transparent relationships between ourselves and our clients to understand what they are currently experiencing so we can provide them with the best candidates! We established InfoGuard SP to focus on a more action-oriented , scalable and risk-based approach to data security.

All the best,
